Our Day's Encounter
This is an old piece, part of a manuscript I'm assembling called Smile for the Customers. The book will be comprised of material I wrote shortly after my father's death, when I was practically a recluse, having panic attacks, writing poems. In a subconscious effort to stabilize myself, I wrote a lot of satire, snippets of Brautigan-esque humor. This is one of the more solemn bits, the book's opening vignette.
